Walk the Labyrinth
The labyrinth
is an ancient tool to enhance meditation, discovered in
early history and used especially in the Middle ages when pilgrimages
to the Holy Land were hazardous. There were labyrinths built into the
stone floors of cathedrals for this purpose. Only one remains at Chartres.
Today there are labyrinths of lawn, gravel, and shells, as well. Those who walk labyrinths find the concentric circles calming. Accompanying music in the background evokes a relaxation response similar to yoga and meditative breathing. One walks a labyrinth alone or with others completely lost in one's own thought. No dogma or protocol intrudes upon your inner space. No preparation is required; there is no cost. Everyone is welcome. Join us!
"Walk the Labyrinth" occurs on the second Sunday of the month October through June, beginning at 6:00 p.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m. Come any time. The Labyrinth is open to the public and there is no charge for the walk. Enter the Labyrinth through the lower Seneca Avenue doors of the sanctuary building to Fellowship hall.
